Here are my favorite books of the year.
I would love for you to write some of yours in the comments so I can get a new list going.
My favorite author of the year. So glad I stumbled onto her. I have read Daring Greatly which was a close second to this one. I have listened to all her TEDX talks and her "Power of Vulnerability" CDs. This book is such an easy read but so powerful. If I could MAKE people read a book this one would be it. Life-changing stuff!
The more you read about Bob Goff the more you wish you could just sit and have a cup of coffee with him and watch how he loves others. He makes you believe that God does incredible things through others and that we are called to LOVE! Love is an action and Bob, as I'm sure he would want me to call him, shows us in real life how to be the light of Christ.
I could just lump this in with spiritual. But since I could only pick one I had to make this it's own category. I have read every single one of Ruth Haley Barton's books. She is one of those authors who literally writes exactly what I need to read. EVERY SINGLE BOOK! I highly recommend this for anyone doing ministry. She has been a mentor to me through her writings. Some of her others writings I have cherished are, Sacred Rhythms and An Invitation to Silence and Solitude.
Nope this isn't really a parenting book or a normal one that I would pick. But for this year it happened to be the one that,as a parent I needed. We have a super picky eater and I was at wits end. I also felt like such a hypocrite knowing we eat healthy but I allow my kids to eat whatever because it's easier. Grants family history has lots of food allergies that have caused health concern so it is imperative that I teach my kids how to eat and enjoy healthy eating. This reads like a story but has specific tips to help you introduce healthy foods to your family.
This would be a book I will read and go back to over and over again. If you are any type of athlete the mobility and stretching exercises are super helpful. If you love crossfit or power lifting he describes proper form and movement with pictures for every lift or exercise. Something as technical as snatch but as easy as correct form for push-ups or pull-ups.
I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Perfect for starting something new and advocating for doing what you love and making it work. He's super funny and has some great advice that I have used and will continue to use in my journey. Recommend for any entrepreneur!
I loved this book and could relate to everything she was writing. It's a memoir of a new mom and I was laughing outloud almost all the way through. My husband would ask "what in the world are you laughing at?" A great read to lift your spirits and know your not alone in this mothering gig.
I loved this book. I love true stories and this was one I could not put down. I always know a book is good when I read it in less then 3 days. Had me on the edge of my chair. I love books on the will to do something beyond yourself. Really great read!
This is a easy read about the importance of just doing small things to keep you healthy. Tips on eating well, moving or exercising and sleeping well, which is one we tend to forget. Super easy read but fascinating stats on why we need to make sure we are making all these things important in our lives.
