OH SUGAR, why do I love and hate you so much? Sugar is my downfall. I love me a good cupcake or piece of anything chocolate. And no, don't be alarmed I am not BANNING cupcakes and cookies, I don't have the will power. But one thing I shared with my online challenge group today is that I have become more mindful of my sugar intake these past few years, because I have read what sugar can do to the body, mind, and even our emotions.
The recommendation for women is 25 grams of sugar a day...THAT Is nothing...I probably have ingested that accidentally the first few hours of waking up. I swear these days the air has hidden sugars in it. But now that I know what Sugar really DOES to us I have become more mindful.
Here are few ways to cut down your sugar intake:
1. Start to be creative with your "sweets." instead of buying something that is packaged and processed, make something homemade with other examples that can make things sweet: bananas, applesauce, stevia, small amounts of natural sugar like honey. Check out clean eats for more examples. (Papa's cookies are the favorite.)
2. If you are a coke drinker, start to wean yourself off. Lessen the cokes, soft drinks or sweetened tea you drink daily. Start to trade your soft drinks for bubbly water like Perrier or Lacroix.
3. The less you consume sweets, the less you crave them.
