THATS WHY! And I have kindof forgotten the pain:)
I wanted to share this email that was written in order to give me some much needed perspective, as this girl gets some cray cray nerves. I don't think it was intended to be some soul searching message. But for me it has really made me stop in my tracks and evaluate why I do what I do. Why I do anything? I think this message holds true for us all. I hope it sinks in your soul like I want it sink into mine.
Kristi,
That's two solid weeks in! The competition is two weeks away. Keep up the good work.
It is an act of worship when we do what our bodies are made to do. Remember this when you want to become worried or anxious. Christ is still reigning on high whether you win or come in 15th place or come in 50th place. So the results don't matter, your effort toward hard, honest work and submission to Christ is all that matters. So have fun while you throw down. God made us to move and be active. The proof of this is in the human body's ability to adapt to stress (which is all exercise is). Let Crossfit, duathalons, volleyball with the kids, all be an act of worship. In the end all that matters is Christ.
DANG! "Why do you have to write that?" Even though I preach this all day long to others, it is very hard for me to live this out. Why? Because what is the point of training or exercising if I don't WIN or do well, or see results? (Oh my word, did I really just write that?)
For you it might be: what's the point of eating well and exercising if I don't look a certain way, feel good about myself, lose 15 pounds or get into my pre-kid -Joe's- jeans.
No you don't have to do some crazy crossfit competition or some marathon to truly test your body to glorify God. (He personally wired me to be motivated by challenge and competition, but it's not for everyone, and doesn't need to be for everyone.)
But what is for everyone, is gloryfying him through acts of worship. And our acts of worship could be as simple as walking, jogging, being active with our kids, grinding out that early morning workout so we can stay healthy, which in turn honors God. Some of you are glorifying him by getting in a 20 min jog or HIIT session when your babies go down for a nap or you're trying real hard to make meals that are healthy for your family. Whatever it is, you are glorifying God through it. Keep at it, no matter how hard. Your sweat session is not just for you. Make it an act of worship... And shouldn't really everything in our life be an act of worship to our Father. The one who gave us our bodies, our lives in the first place?
The thing that really hits home for me and that I need to tattoo on my heart this coming week and forever as I continue on this journey to wholeness is this: NO trophy, NO first place, NO perfect weight on the scale, NO amount of compliments, NO matter what size of jeans I fit into matter. ALL that matters is CHRIST!
